A unique culinary venture is emerging, amalgamating art and tradition into a delightful, edible form: Carson Pane’s Harvest Cookie Co. They are, though, more than just cookies; they’re pieces of art, meticulously crafted, echoing Carson’s rich background in Fine Arts and Jewelry Design.

Diving deep into her artistic inclinations, Carson shared, “My background in fine arts taught me about color theory and composition, skills I now apply when mixing frosting colors and designing cookies.” The precision demanded in jewelry design, where “details [are] sometimes smaller than a millimeter,” has endowed Pane with the meticulousness she employs in her cookie craft.
But it’s not all about aesthetics. Each cookie narrates a story, a personal touch that resonates with the client’s vision. She emphasizes her dedication, stating, “I’m really passionate about creating cookies that coordinate with my clients’ events as much as possible. I love getting all of the little details about the theme and decor and incorporating them in my designs.” This dedication, however, comes with its set of challenges. Crafting these intricate designs can be “incredibly time-consuming,” with Carson revealing that it can take “upwards of 12 hours of work for just one dozen cookies.”
Harvest Cookie Co.’s roots trace back to 2022, but Pane’s culinary journey began much earlier. Growing up with a mother who owned a restaurant and a family rich in culinary talent, she shares, “Making food has always been a central part of my family life and has become a passion.” This sentiment is further solidified by a nostalgic recollection: “I recently came across a photo of myself when I was around 8 years old decorating cookies with my Great Aunt.”
Her connection to Fort Calhoun and the broader Nebraska region is palpable in her ventures, including the Harvest Design Co., which offers screen-printed gear rooted in local culture. Reflecting on her local ties, she expressed, “When I moved away from Fort Calhoun, I lived in big cities. I became sentimental about small, Midwest towns during that time. That nostalgia and appreciation for the past has influenced my vintage-inspired designs for Harvest Design Co.”
And, Carson adds, “Omaha really has a vibrant community of small businesses that work together to put on shopping events that are fun and diverse.” Such engagements have not only solidified her reputation as some people’s go-to “cookie lady” but also provided creative inspirations, like the “Husker themed set of cookies that was largely inspired by the graphic design of another small business.”

In addition to her entrepreneurial pursuits, Carson is committed to sharing her expertise and passion. “I’ve also taught cookie classes. I’ve done a Christmas and Valentine’s class at the North Lights Venue in town. It’s been fun to share my passion for cookie decorating with others!” she shared, encapsulating her holistic approach to her craft.
Harvest Cookie Co. stands as a testament to Carson Pane’s dedication, artistic prowess, and deep-rooted connection to her community. In every bite lies a story, a tradition, and an art form that resonates far beyond its delectable taste.
