Fort Calhoun Community Schools Foundation presents its fifth annual Trivia Night on January 10, 2025, at Schwertly Hall, featuring professional trivia host Mike Monday.
Monday brings impressive game show credentials, having appeared on Jeopardy! and winning on three other shows: Debt, Hollywood Showdown, and Smush. Since 2011, he’s been writing and hosting trivia events throughout Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa, offering multimedia presentations with audio and video elements.
“We wanted to do something different and fun,” says Jamie Bouwman of the FCCS Foundation. “It gives people a chance to get out with friends after the holiday craziness and goes to a great cause.” The event raises funds for scholarships, with Bouwman noting, “The more tables, the more fun it is.”
According to Bouwman, Monday sets up and runs ten rounds of ten questions in different categories, adding entertainment with games like “Heads or Tails.” Teams can win either by answering questions correctly or through table decorations, which are judged during the event.
Teams of up to eight players can register for $320 per table, though Bouwman points out that “some teams don’t have a full team of 8 people” and notes that “more brain power could make the difference.”
Doors open at 6:00 PM, with trivia starting at 7:00 PM. This 21+ event allows participants to bring their own beverages and snacks. While advance registration is encouraged, payment at the door is also accepted.
